Our solutions:The company had tried almost
everything to handle its basic bookkeeping functions. When full-
and part-time bookkeepers couldn’t do it, the owner and even
his wife tried. Still, the company’s bookkeeping was an issue
for years, plagued by inaccuracy, inefficiency and even theft,
and the owner couldn’t get the information he needed to run
the company. Remote Controller® analyzed the company’s
back office needs, created a Microsoft Access Custom Database Application,

Our solutions: The company needed to provide
accurate financial statements to its bank to double its credit line from
$1 million to $2 million. Because the company was in the middle of a
huge operations and accounting software conversion, it was unable to
decipher its general ledger and produce statements. Remote Controller® brought
in a team of three professionals who worked full time to produce accurate
financial statements in just 10 days using QuickBooks®.

didn’t maintain a cash balance and was handwriting checks, sending
stubs and bank statements to his CPA.
Our solutions: Remote Controller® created
a QuickBooks® system for the office, which allowed
him to eliminate $700 in monthly accounting fees and cut his year-end
tax preparation work by 50%. Additionally, by using QuickBooks® to
analyze data, we established a retirement plan that allowed him
to put away $150,000 and resulted in a first-year tax savings of
$60,000.

$1 million media placement firm was told by her accountant that she was
making money and needed to shelter her income, but she had no money in

Our solutions: Serving in an advisory
capacity, Remote Controller® determined that her accountant

basis accounting wasn’t appropriate. We then prepared financial
statements using the accrual basis of accounting, helping the owner

Our solutions:
$1 million temporary placement firm: A manual billing,
payroll and commission tracking process used Word documents for invoices
and took two days a week to complete. We developed a Microsoft Access
Custom Database Application to automate billing and produce payroll and
commission reports, reducing their system of generating 50 to 100 invoices
a week from a 2-day process to 2 hours.
$2 million manufacturers rep: The owner required extensive
reporting and the ability to see data in various formats, including
this year vs. last year; by product, product line and customer; tracked
orders; invoices; and commissions due and paid. 80% of one employee’s
time was devoted to creating and maintaining an elaborate Excel spreadsheet
system that tracked every order from placement to payment. To compound
the problem, the employee was leaving the company.
We developed a documented menu-driven Access database application to
replace all the spreadsheets, and the reports now can be produced by
anyone in the office. In addition, the company can analyze information
in ways it couldn’t before. And the employee who left wasn’t
replaced, saving the company $80,000 in salary and benefits every year.
$10 million private equity fund: Various employees used several
ineffective methods to track investors, investments, loans and all related
financial information. Remote Controller® developed an Access
database application that, along with QuickBooks®, tracks and
reports everything that’s needed. Our client has outsourced all bookkeeping,
accounting and information management functions to Remote Controller®,
allowing them to focus on raising money. No one involved knows or wants to
know what we do. They just want us to handle it all, and we do, giving them
peace of mind they couldn’t achieve before.
$25 million manufacturers rep – A manual and time-consuming
commission payment process took two weeks every two months. Some reps had to
wait six months to be paid, and even then, the company was unable to track
costs by invoice. We were able to streamline the process without the added
expense of new software. Instead, we made simple modifications that automatically
produce commission reports. Processing commissions now takes 1 day a month,
and reps are paid monthly. The added efficiency is saving the company money
every day, and our client has realized increased goodwill with the reps.
Our clients: A $1 million furniture
distributor paid salespeople on commission but had never reconciled commissions
earned vs. draw paid, leading to uncertainty and frustration for management
and salespeople.
Our solutions: We used the job-tracking capability of QuickBooks® to determine gross
profit, and we used a Microsoft Access Custom Database Application to
reconcile commissions based on gross profit for paid invoices only. The
source of frustration was eliminated. The reps who thought they had money
coming were paid, and the company and its sales force were able to determine
which salespeople were in a deficit. In the end everyone was relieved,
and to this day, reps receive monthly statements, giving everyone peace
of mind.

without warning, and without knowing what the person did on a daily basis.
Our solutions: Within days we had immersed ourselves in the
company’s files and documents and taken on all controller functions,
ensuring that vendors and employees were paid on time, that customers

We produced and delivered a presentation to the bank showing how the

million HVAC manufacturers rep needed to provide potential buyers with
5 years of historical financial information and analysis within 30 days

client to determine what data was needed, we developed a system
to accurately produce daily, weekly, and monthly information. Materials
are presented in summary form using numbers, graphs, and visual
gauges in an information dashboard that helps the owner keep his

Our client: A $500,000 hospital
bill auditing firm was winding down operations when most of its staff
